MANDALA
These photographs were taken at Quonnie Beach in Charlestown, RI. Like many beaches, it is a place where the water of the ocean meets the sands of the land with the relaxing, rhythmic sounds of the waves as they wash in and out.
As mandala-style montages assembled from photographs of the breaking waves along the shore, they carry the calming aspects that detailed, repetitive patterns encourage. Found in many cultures, including Hindu, Buddhist, Navajo, Celtic, Maya and Islamic traditions, mandalas are a looking glass that reveal the other side of our perceptions and lead the viewer from the outer world into their inner personal space.
