Neak Pean is a Buddhist temple built at the center of a circular man-made island within the Jayatataka Baray. Constructed in the 12th century, it served as a place for healing. It was believed by entering the 4 adjoining pools, each symbolizing wind, fire, water, and earth, the healing water could cure the bather by bringing balance to their mind and body.
